Nurburgring 52nd Old timer
|
4 Aug 2025
|
The Nurburgring Old Timer is one of Europe's largest historic motorsport events. Following the previous HGPCA event at Oulton Park being for rear engine only cars, the Old Timer was for front engine only cars with an impressive 21 cars on the grid.
With mixed weather predicted it was to be an interesting weekend.
Fridays qualifying was dry with drivers feeling their way around the modified circuit layout. John Spiers and Klaus Lehr both sitting on the second row.
Saturday was a different track, the weather fluctuating between massive downpours and light drizzle. We watched the previous races competitors switch tyres, wet/dry/wet. Fortunately our race being late in the day and the weather settling to a steady miz as they say in Norfolk.
John Spiers took full advantage of the rolling start and got off to a flying start before going wide at turn 1. An epic battle between Richard Wilson in his newly rebuilt Ferrari Dino and John Spiers for first place with Klaus Lehr and Rod Jolley Battling for third. Unfortunately Klaus missed out on his podium place after a spin towards the end.
The rain was replaced by a chill wind for Sunday. Both John and Klaus ran extremely well but the Lotus 16 of Joaquin Folch was very strong in the katter part of the race , JOhn and Klaus finishing 3rd & 4th

Dijon Grand Prix de l'Age
|
10 Jun 2025
|
From 2025’s inaugural meeting at Hockenheim, we moved on to a circuit that many of us have visited often over the years, which together with
the lovely city of Dijon, is an absolute favourite! Despite some rather ‘iffy’ weather; the circuit didn’t disappoint.
The Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or was originally oversubscribed and with a full reserve list; including a very healthy number of Front Engine cars with no less
than six Maserati 250Fs' All our cars including Elliott Hanns first time out this year went really well in qualifying with Guillermo Fierro being Pole in the front engine cars.
First step of the Front Engine podium was Guillermo
Fierro with John Spiers literally a gnat’s behind (0.145 seconds!). The pair of 250Fs had had a race-long battle
to the huge enjoyment of the spectators. Third step of the podium went to Rod Jolley in his sparkling silver
Lister Jaguar Monza.
Klaus Lehr and Elliot having their own battle getting closer and closer throughout the weekend
Race 2 saw John and Guillermo trading places with John coming out on top by a very small margin this time. The battle of the leading 250Fs was reversed with John Spiers just beating Guillermo Fierro – this time by
0.876… Rod Jolley again took the third step of the front engine podium.
Once again, the Circuit Dijon-Prenois in its idyllic
